5 out of 5 stars I got mine and am using it daily!   September 26, 2009

I saw this model in a catalogue and googles it up. I wanted it the minute I found out about it, and called the local store to see if I could get it that day. Unfortunately, the employees had never heard of it, so I decided to get it site to store. It arrived that week, took just over 2 hours for us to assemble it, but that was watching tv at the same time. The instruction manual could use an upgrade on the schematics, but otherwise everything was easily understandable and easy to assemble.

Here is what it has over the other types. The base is rock solid. There was no need for any assistance to get into or out of the device. It only goes 65 degrees, but that was a real selling point for me. I have high blood pressure, ocassionaly, and not going 90 degrees is less stress on my cranium. Starting and ending in a siting position is also a consideration for me at my age. I noticed the difference in my neck immediately. The lower back is adjusting gradually, but it's been a problem for years, so I wasn't expecting a quick fix there. I would reccomend this product to anyone wanting to decompress the stress on their lumbar area. I also read some reviews that stated it's great for abs.

The footprint is approximately 3 square feet. It does not fold up for storage.

5 out of 5 stars Marcy IVT 854 inversion chair   January 30, 2010

I ordered this inversion chair from Amazon, it came with free shipping which is what I selected, from the day I ordered it to the day it arrived was exactly 8 days, delivered by UPS. The box was in pretty bad shape, it had 2 straps holding it closed originally apparently and one of the straps had broke from it so it was only being held together with one strap which allowed one end of the box to open. Luckily all the pieces were still in the box and each piece was individually wrapped in it's own plastic covering. The small assembly items like screws and bolts were in a well wrapped package. Every piece was there but we were missing 2 of the round flat washers which was not a big deal we had some we were able to use. It is a heavy box about 85 lbs.
It suggest in the manual to have 2 people available to do the assembly and that is a good idea, there are a couple of instances where it took 2 of us to handle the large sections. Assembly is fairly straight forward, the manual could be better but it got the job done. It took about an hour to assemble it, it does come with a little wrench and allen wrenches.
This unit is very sturdy and well made, the base is rock solid and footprint measures about 45x27. Luckily both of us are about the same height so setting the foot attachment does not have to be altered, however it is adjustable. There is a webbed belt type strap that goes under the unit from the front near the feet, under the chair around a bolt bracket and back down to an upright piece from the base, it has a bolt that connects the strap to that metal upright, that strap has an adjustment slider on it, this is what adjusts the amount of inversion the chair will do. Left as it came which is full length the chair inverts quite a bit, not a full 90 degrees I would say it looks like 70 degrees.
There is a seat belt attached to the back of the chair that goes around the waist, it has a slider adjustment. The closure for the seat belt is hard plastic that you push in on each side to release it (like on dog collars), it is extremely difficult for me to undo that closure once it is locked. I have arthritis in my hands and I had to have someone come help me open it. I am glad it is very secure but it does make getting in and out a problem for me.

The foot area is very comfortable and did not hurt my ankles, I do wear lace up sneakers when I use it as is advised with all inversion equipment. It does lock down on the ankles very securely. The seat is pretty high so having the little step up at the bottom of the foot area is very helpful for mounting and dismounting. Mounting and dismounting the actual unit is very easy and can be done alone.

The thing that I did not realize is that it does not maintain a seated position as you begin to invert, you start out sitting in it just as you would a chair, as you begin to lean back and invert, the bottom seat is on a slider which slides with you as you flip so that when you are fully inverted you are virtually laying flat as if you were laying in bed. I thought it would maintain the chair position. So when fully inverted to it's full extent you look like you are on an inversion table. I will take some pictures and add to the pictures here on Amazon. I think that would be helpful to see it actually in an inverted position.

I am extremely happy with this inversion chair, it has been very easy to assemble, and use. I have some pretty severe compression issues in my lower back which I under go decompression therapy for on a scheduled basis. This chair will allow me to do some of the decompression here at home on a daily basis.
I can definitely feel the difference in my back when I use it. Not an over night change but done on a regular basis definitely a good addition to my therapy. I would definitely recommend this chair to anyone interested in inversion therapy.

The chair does not have any instruction on how to use it at all so my advice would be to watch some of the videos that are available through you-tube and Google and read up on how to use inversion therapy so you know how to start out and how long you can stay inverted. I definitely would advise talking to your doctor before beginning especially if you have medical conditions, there are special cautions for those with high blood pressure and heart conditions. Do the research and start out slow, be safe and you will enjoy the benefits.

5 out of 5 stars Great For The Price, BUT Customer Service is Sub Standard   February 4, 2010

This Unit Really is worth every penny, BUT ITS BIG, you will need some room, otherwise, with in the first use it works well, takes about 40 mins. or so to put together, weight ratio 300lbs, the chair design is awesome, and the pivot points decrease the space if you wanted to use it close to a wall, good welds and hardware, mine came with the foot bar rusted under the paint, their customer service, is really rude and not too helpful at all, I got mine Jan 12 2010 and still no replacement, they says its back ordered, so I hope to see it soon instead or using the rusted foot rest...

Otherwise I highly recommend this unit I got mine with free shipping, which is great, considering it weighs about 85lbs, you will have to down load the manual, cause it does not come with any, but its pretty simple, it adjusts to 6'6" tall to 5' or so my Wife is 5'2" & I'm 6' and we both use a common setting, it has a belt adjuster that will give you a range of motion up to 120 degrees or so, you don't go completely upside down, my buddy tried it and he is thin so I had to help him rotate upside down and hold him there, otherwise, you can do this all by your self with out a spotter...

Ours backs feel so much better, much to our chiropractor's despair.

4 out of 5 stars Great Item, Helped Immensely   February 14, 2010

This item is a miracle cure especially for my husband who would NOT get help for his back trouble. He somehow injured his back (shoveling?) before Thanksgiving and walked with a limp because it ached. This went on for 4-6 weeks. Things were getting better but far from 100%. I knew he was adapting to what was wrong with his spine. I knew the spine was out of alignment but there was no telling him what to do. At Christmas I purchased this chair for "us" because I have often dealt with back/neck pain and I heard this helped some people more than a chiropractor. My 5" 11" husband is feeling fabulous, like 99% cured of the lower back pain and getting better all the time. He uses it every morning and some evenings. I has been well worth the money and we will have one forever. This was a small price to pay for the relief it has brought. It is very easy to use, nothing scary or difficult about it. The down side is that I am too small for it (5'3") so my head doesn't hang off when inverted and I don't think I get the full benefit of it. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it doesn't adjust to suit me (sorry.)
